GSSSB Recruitment 2026 – Important Dates

Candidates can submit their online application from 22 June 2026 onward, and the window closes on 6 July 2026 at 11:59 PM. Examination fee, however, can be paid up to 8 July 2026. All eligibility criteria – educational qualification, age, category certificates – will be assessed as on 6 July 2026. The exam date and admit card download instructions will be announced later on gsssb.gujarat.gov.in.

Vacancy Breakdown

A total of 8 vacancies are on offer: 2 each for Laboratory Assistant (Electrical), Computer, and Civil; 1 each for Laboratory Assistant (Electronics & Communication) and Senior Laboratory Assistant. The number of vacancies may change, and a candidate is eligible to apply only against the specific disability group shown as applicable to that particular post.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility differs slightly by post in terms of educational qualification, but age limit, citizenship, and category rules are common across the four Laboratory Assistant posts (Senior Laboratory Assistant has a different age limit).

Citizenship: Candidates must be Indian citizens or possess the nationality prescribed under Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Educational Qualification (as on 6 July 2026):

For all five posts, candidates additionally need basic knowledge of computer applications (as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment Rules, 1967) and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both. Candidates who do not currently hold a computer-knowledge certificate may still apply, but must produce it before appointment, failing which the appointing authority will cancel their selection.

Age Limit: For the four Laboratory Assistant posts, candidates must be not less than 18 years and not more than 33 years as on 6 July 2026. For Senior Laboratory Assistant, the upper limit is 35 years (also not less than 18 years).

Age Relaxation for Divyang Candidates:

Candidates already in Gujarat Government service may also get upper age relaxation as per the 1967 Recruitment Rules. Reserved-category candidates applying against an unreserved post will not get any age or other relaxation. SC/ST/SEBC/EWS Divyang candidates must submit category, non-creamy-layer, or income/asset certificates (as applicable) obtained within the window specified in the notification at the time of certificate verification; without these, they will be treated as general-category Divyang candidates.

Application Fee

The fee must be paid only online – by Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallet – after the application is confirmed, and must be completed by 8 July 2026 (11:59 PM), after which the payment link closes automatically and no late fee will be accepted. A transaction fee applies in addition to the exam fee. Fees are refunded only to candidates who actually appear for the examination; candidates who do not pay the fee will have their application rejected without notice, and a candidate who skips the exam after paying will not get a refund.

Selection Process

Selection is conducted through a single-stage objective competitive examination (CBRT/OMR mode) consisting of two parts:

  • Part-A (90 marks): Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30), Quantitative Aptitude (30), and Indian Constitution, Current Affairs, and Gujarati & English Comprehension (30)
  • Part-B (120 marks): Questions related to the candidate’s subject/post

A combined total of 210 questions for 210 marks are asked, with a combined duration of 3 hours (180 minutes). Negative marking applies – ¼ mark is deducted for every wrong answer. A minimum qualifying standard of 40% applies independently to both Part-A and Part-B for all candidates.

After the exam, GSSSB will release a provisional answer key, invite objections, and then publish the final answer key, followed by the provisional result. Candidates within roughly twice the number of category-wise vacancies (based on merit, subject to qualifying marks) will be called for document verification. The final selection list and waiting list are then prepared category- and disability-group-wise based on merit. The notification does not state exam dates, result timelines, or interview details beyond these stages.

Widowed women candidates and candidates who have represented in recognised national/international, inter-university, or All India School-level sports get a 5% bonus on their marks for merit purposes, subject to producing the required certificates at verification.

Salary / Pay Scale

All four Laboratory Assistant posts carry a fixed monthly pay of ₹26,000 for the first five years, after which satisfactory service entitles the candidate to regular appointment at 7th Pay Commission Level-2 (₹19,900–₹63,200). The Senior Laboratory Assistant post follows the same fixed-pay structure initially, moving to Level-4 (₹25,500–₹81,100) after five years. Both pay structures remain subject to the outcome of Supreme Court SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012.

Scribe and Compensatory Time Facility for Divyang Candidates

Candidates with Benchmark Disability or a temporary disability affecting their ability to write may request a scribe and/or compensatory time (20 minutes extra per hour) for the exam. Candidates with Blindness or Locomotor disability (both arms affected) of 40% or more need only submit their disability certificate. Other eligible candidates must also submit a medical certificate (Appendix-I format) confirming their writing limitation, issued by the Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent. Requests must be emailed to [email protected] at least 2 days before the exam, after the admit card download notice is published; instructions and forms will be available at https://gsssb.gujarat.gov.in/Home/ph. Requests received after this window will not be considered.

Troubleshooting & Common Mistakes

  • Photo/signature errors: Scan your photo and signature separately, save each as a JPG file within the prescribed size limit, and double-check dimensions before uploading – mismatched sizes are a common reason uploads fail.
  • Payment gateway failures: If a transaction fails or hangs after the amount is deducted, wait and check your Payment Receipt status from the portal before retrying, rather than attempting a second payment immediately.
  • Browser/device issues: Use an updated browser and a stable internet connection; clear cache if pages don’t load correctly, and avoid submitting the form via mobile browsers if you face layout issues.
  • Save your credentials: Note down your Application Number and Confirmation Number immediately after they are generated, and keep printed/saved copies of your application and fee receipt – these cannot be recovered easily later.
  • Avoid last-day rush: Application portals see heavy traffic close to the deadline, which can cause slow loading or failed submissions – try to complete your application and fee payment well before the last date.
